LA Vets

The University Animal Clinic team of skilled veterinarians welcomes you to our practice. Proudly serving the Lake Charles and McNeese State University areas. At University Animal Clinic, it is our daily privilege to provide quality vet care to your cherished pet, with compassion and competence. We hope to ensure a positive impact on our patients, pet owners and the local community.


Dr. Michael Woodward

Dr. Woodward graduated from Auburn University in 1978. He joined our staff shortly after that. He is married to Susan and they have 2 children Davis and Lydia. He enjoys hunting, fishing, woodwork, and anything involving the outdoors.


Dr. Karyn Goeckel

Dr. Karyn Goeckel is the daughter of Jon and Laurie Goeckel. She has one sister, Gwen and a special friend, her Springer Spaniel, Kix. Raised in Baton Rouge, LA, Dr. Goeckel is a 1993 graduate of LSU-SVM where she pledged the Delta Kappa Chapter of Zeta Sorority. Her associations include AVMA, AAHA, LVMA and CVMA. Her favorite pastime is playing tennis with the Lake Charles Raquet Club. She is an avid LSU sports fan but especially loves LSU football, Geaux Tigers!!!!


Dr. Lindsay Seffins

Dr. Lindsay Seffens graduated LSU SVM in 2011 and started at UAC soon afterward. She has special interests in dermatology, ultrasonography, and endocrinology. She is married to Lance Seffens, a teacher and football coach at Barbe High School. They have 4 kids (including a set of twins). They also have a Shih Tzu named Mowglie and an adopted cat named Captain Salty. In her free time, she likes to hang out with family and do Crossfit.


Dr. Romero

Dr. Meghan Romero is a 2012 graduate of the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine. She is married to Wesley Romero, a local attorney. Together they have a son named Charlie and a Maltese named Holly Golightly. She calls New Orleans home, and enjoys yoga, shopping, and spending time with her family and friends.


Dr.Paige Whatley

Dr.Paige Whatley is originally from Memphis, TN, but has called SW LA her home for almost 10 years now. She graduated from LSU School of Veterinary Medicine in 2014 and joined the UAC team shortly afterward. She enjoys all aspects of internal medicine and has a special interest in ultrasonography. She is married to Jake Whatley, a teacher and coach at Iowa High School. They have a newborn daughter Adalynn Jane and have 2 cats, named Cricket and Suede.


Dr.Heather Theriot

Dr. Heather (Nordberg) Theriot began working at UAC in 2009 as a kennel assistant, then as a veterinary assistant while attending MSU. She attended LSU School of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in May 2016, bringing the latest knowledge to our clinic. She is originally from Westlake and is married to Tory Theriot from Egan, LA. They currently have 2 pets, a golden retriever named Maddie and a Labrador retriever named Kaitie.
